A few weeks ago, my friend Johnetta and I got to see an advance screening of Daddy’s Home 2, starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. I really loved the original movie so I was super stoked to get to see the sequel before it hit theaters. I also got to see it at SMG in Charlotte, a movie theater that I had not visited in the past, so that was pretty awesome, too.
In the sequel to the 2015 global smash, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) have joined forces to provide their kids with t he perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.
I can’t take Johnetta anywhere. 😉
Spoiler Free Daddy’s Home 2 Movie Review
No one likes a spoiler, well, almost no one, so I am not giving you any. However, if you are one of the 2% of people who do like spoilers, email me and I will hook you up. Now, on with the review.
Daddy’s Home 2 is freaking hilarious! Johnetta and I laughed out loud many times during the movie. No, that is not just something that people say online. The best parts of the movie for me involved the scenes involving Will Ferrell and John Lithgow. They were just way too funny together and their father/son dynamic was perfect. I have to admit that I am a bit biased towards Will Ferrell, though. I think he is one of the funniest people on the planet and I can’t name one movie that I have not liked loved him in. Mel Gibson also makes a great addition to the franchise. His character is a bit of a cad, but he gets a bit more lovable as the movie progresses.
I also really enjoyed the children in the movie. They all actually had pretty big parts and played important roles in the plot line of the movie. The hunting and mistletoe scenes are especially funny so be sure to pay close attention and to watch out specifically for them. And, finally, I feel like John Cena really has made an excellent transition into acting – and I find comedy is definitely his forte.
Daddy’s Home 2 will be hitting theaters everywhere tomorrow, November 10th!
I enjoyed this film because it was pretty funny and had action in it. My favorite part was the snowball fight scene.
