Making fitness a part of your life is mostly about routine. Healthy eating and exercise need to become a regular part of your life in order for you to be able to properly commit to them. One easy way to build that routine is to take advantage of the other thing that is a major part of everyone’s life: the smartphone.

Your phone is almost always on you and, with the range of fitness apps available, you can use it to build exercise routines, remind you to do them, track your food intake and break that intake down into specific data, such as calories or nutrients.

The only downside to using apps is the sheer number of them you have to choose from. There are literally thousands on the market and it can be hard to know which ones are the right ones for you.

To help you out, we’ve put together a list of the top five best fitness apps you can use on your mobile phone.

MyFitnessPal has risen to become one of the most widely recognized and popular fitness apps available on mobile. The reason for its popularity is that it works well and has a fantastic range of features.

You can track your calories with the calorie counter, add in food by scanning the bar code, use different specific diet plans, and break your food intake down into macros. On the exercise side, MyFitnessPal allows you to log periods of exercise and connects with dozens of peripherals and other devices to help you track your exercise data.

It might not have some of the finer detail of other, more specific apps, but few apps can match MyFitnessPal for pure, all-round, usability.

Not everyone has the time to go to the gym, so bodyweight exercise and yoga apps are great for getting in an office or home workout to keep fit

Sworkit is an exercise app that provides you with workout routines, an exercise planner, and fitness tracker. You can customize your workout schedule to fit your personal timetable and the app will provide you with daily routines to do, as well as a personalized 6-week program to get your fitness journey started.

There are thousands of pre-generated workouts for you to choose, from quick no-equipment office workouts to longer sessions that you can do on a day off or over the weekend, giving you the freedom to workout wherever and whenever.

You Are Your Own Gym

Not everyone has the time to go to the gym or the space to store gym equipment at home; You Are Your Own Gym, often shortened to YAYOG, solves that issue by giving users a range of over 200 bodyweight-only exercises, that are organized into different categories.

These bodyweight routines come with instructional videos, so you can see them in action, and are great for people who need to fit exercise into a busy work routine.

Gamifying exercise is a growing trend in fitness apps, because nothing gets you running quite as fast as being chased by a horde of zombies

Pocket Yoga

One of the major benefits of yoga is that is can be done with limited space and no equipment, ideal for space-starved travelers, office workers, or really anyone who spends a lot of their time sitting in a chair.

Pocket Yoga gives you the added benefit of having a miniature yoga instructor with you at all times. The app gives detailed voice and video instructions to help you through the poses and breaking exercises, and 200 beautifully illustrated images to make sure you are entirely sure what you are doing.

Zombies, Run!

Getting the motivation to run, especially after a long day at work, can be difficult. Zombies, Run! Solves that problem by providing you with an interesting narrative and the motivation of running from a horde of the shambling undead.

Getting more of the story requires you to not get caught by the zombie horde and that means running at a certain pace for a set amount of time. Zombies, Run! has over 300 story missions and a variety of different interactive play modes, similar to other AR games like Pokemon Go. The app does all the usual running app functions, like tracking distance, heart rate and time.

Zombies, Run! is great at giving you the motivation to run and something to concentrate on other than you aching legs, but it’s probably not the best app to use if you are running at night!

Why The Bengals Just Might Be My New Favorite Team

Cincinnati Bengals Resign Devon Still To Help Cancer-Stricken Daughter

I was browsing around on YouTube tonight and I came across one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. I will admit, I don’t know much about football {the hubs is the football expert in this house} but I just had to write about this. If you have not heard of Devon Still, he was a player for the Cincinnati Bengals who was cut from his contract a few days ago, but then he was resigned almost immediately so that he could have health insurance for his very sick little girl.

Top 10 Athletes Who Had It All And Threw It Away: #8 Tonya Harding

Tonya Harding Mug Shot

Tonya Harding had a promising career ahead of her as a member of the 1994 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team. She won the U.S. Figure Skating Championship in 1991 and placed second in the World Championships. But, in January of 1994, just months before the Olympic Games in Lilehammer, Norway, Harding linked herself with infamy. During a practice session just prior to the 1994 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Championships, Harding’s Olympic teammate, Nancy Kerrigan, was viciously attacked, her knee badly bruised by an assailant with a baton. As a result, Kerrigan would withdraw from the competition, leaving the door open for Harding, who won the competition. Days later, however, the attackers were captured and they implicated both Harding and her ex-husband Jeff Gilooly in the assault.

What Sports Fans Need To Know Before Cutting The Cord

Cord Cutting Sports Fans: What You Need To Know Before Cutting The Cord

If you are a sports fan like I am, the last thing you want to hear is that you can’t watch your favorite team in action. Well, that’s the dilemma that I face weekly during football season when I cannot watch my beloved Carolina Panthers play. Why? Several months back we cut the cord and dropped our television provider to save money. I will be honest, the monthly bill for dish or cable (we have had both) was just ridiculously expensive and I did not feel the need to pay that anymore and my family and I are not alone in this thought. Cord cutting is becoming increasingly popular as more and more internet based streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video continue to grow.

So, What About Watching The Games With An Antenna?

However, for cord cutting sports fans, this creates a problem. Without a television provider, how do we watch our games? Sure, you could get a rooftop antenna and pick up your local stations, that might work. But, in my case, I live in an area where my local Fox affiliate is unattainable, even with a rooftop antenna. The tower is just too far away. True NFL fans know that Fox holds the rights to broadcast all Sunday games that involve NFC teams playing against one another and NFC teams playing at an AFC team’s home. Well guess what? The Carolina Panthers are an NFC team, which means that 90-95% of their games will be broadcast on Fox.

Cord Cutting Sports Fans Can Stream All The Games Online, Right?

Now, you ask, what about streaming the games online? Here’s the real kicker. CBS, which carries the AFC teams and AFC teams playing at an NFC team’s home, has decided to stream their games online, including all the playoff games that they carry. NBC, which carries the Sunday Night Football games during the regular season and two of the playoff games, also streams their games. Fox, on the other hand, has decided to be stingy and not stream their games, unless you have a subscription from a very limited list of cable providers, none of which are offered in our area. How uncool is that? C’mon, Fox! Get with it! Just add some advertising, stream the games, and make some extra cash off of us cord cutting sports fans like the rest of the networks!

What About Game Rewind?

The NFL Network does offer a streaming service called Game Rewind, which streams the game thirty minutes after its over, but that is after the game is OVER and someone has already called me and told me what happened. That would be like watching a movie after already knowing the ending. It just ruins everything.

Live Sports and the Plight of the Cord Cutting Sports Fan

Tell Me “It’s Just A Game,” One More Time…

I know that a lot of you will say “It’s just a game” or “You can watch all the other games, can’t you be happy with that?” None of the other games involve my favorite team, therefore I don’t give a hoot about them, and the next person that tells me it is just a game just might get to eat my fist. Tasty. I have been a football fan ever since I was able to crawl, and giving it up would be like giving up your favorite food or drink. I would be miserable. I know I helped make the decision to cut the cord, but I am going through football withdrawal right about now, and I would like some suggestions as to how to watch the games, legally, and at the time of their broadcast, without paying for television service. Can anyone help a cord cutting sports fan out?

Any Suggestions On How To Legally Stream Live Football For The Cord Cutting Sports Fans Out There?
