Sam Hunt Outskirts Tour Setlist + Lily Rose & Brett Young

May 9, 2024 by Dawn McAlexander

Sam Hunt Outskirts Tour Setlist + Lily Rose & Brett Young

We actually saw TWO shows on the Outskirts Tour – Raleigh and Greensboro, so it was fun to see how the show changed a little from the first of the tour to the last. We have the Sam Hunt Outskirts Tour Setlist for you today, as well as some thoughts on Sam Hunt, Brett Young and Lily Rose’s performances. And we got to see how the tour differed between an outdoor venue [Coastal Credit Union Music Park, Raleigh, NC] versus an indoor venue [Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC], which was pretty cool.

  1. Raised On It
  2. House Party
  3. Kinfolks
  4. 23
  5. Water Under The Bridge
  6. Outskirts
  7. Start Nowhere/Take Me Home Country Roads [John Denver cover, medley]
  8. Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90s
  9. Hard To Forget
  10. Make You Miss Me
  11. Take Your Time
  12. Cop Car
  13. Wishful Drinking [duet with Lily Rose]
  14. Leave The Light On
  15. We Are Tonight
  16. Don’t Start Now [Dua Lipa cover] / Get lucky [Daft Punk cover, medley]
  17. Let It Down
  18. Break Up In A Small Town
  19. Ex To See
  20. Body Like A Back Road

A lot of these setlist sites list “Cop Car” as a Keith Urban cover. That isn’t actually accurate. Yes, Keith Urban did have a hit with the song, but Sam Hunt wrote it. So….

Sam Hunt Outskirts Tour Setlist + Lily Rose & Brett Young

Sam Hunt put on one hell of a show, so good, in fact, that I saw it twice on the same tour. We caught it first in Raleigh, NC on September 9th, 2023 and then on April 5th, 2024 in Greensboro, NC. Technically, I think the 2023 portion was called “Summer On The Outskirts” Tour and then the 2024 portion was just called “Outskirts” but it was the same lineup so, to me, same tour. Neither Kenny nor I remember the bridge backdrop that Sam Hunt gets lifted above the stage on in the first show. You can see pictures of it in my Sam Hunt Outskirts Album on Flickr. We aren’t 100% sure on that though, but the bridge seems to be about the only difference in Hunt’s show between the two venues that we noticed.

We didn’t do a setlist for the 1st show, so it could be minorly different. I don’t think so though as Hunt did an acoustic set on a separate stage towards the back of both shows in the middle of his set. I also remember the Dua Lipa/Daft Punk medley as well as his duet with Lily Rose in both performances. He did my favorite song of his, “Break Up In A Small Town,” in both concerts, so I was good! Sam Hunt put on one of my favorite live shows of 2023, which is why I had no problem coughing up money to see him again last month as well as having already purchased tickets to see him, yet again, later in the year. I have no complaints and only good things to say about his ability as an entertainer.

Well, maybe to stay off that bridge in the next show. I was so scared he would fall… yikes. I think I could see a safety rope attached to him, though, so, in all reality, he was probably perfectly fine.

Brett Young

I have seen Brett Young a couple of times before and, even though his songs are well known and beautiful, I have to admit he didn’t seem to fit in this tour. As mentioned, I attended two shows on the Outskirts Tour and Young’s slow, sometimes melancholy vibe doesn’t work between Lily Rose and Sam Hunt, in my opinion. Rose got the crowd hyped up and then came the somewhat traditional country/yacht rock/adult contemporary [I LOVE all of these styles of music, but it’s weird in this lineup] sound that Brett Young offers. In Raleigh, Young made a point to say something about perhaps the crowd wants to hear some more upbeat music but what he is plays is slow. Okaaayyy…. Admittedly, on the 2nd show, Young added in a cover of *NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me” that was upbeat and fun, so my opinion of his show improved a bit in Greensboro, as opposed to Raleigh. I kept wondering if maybe someone had a “talk” with him. He’s super talented, but he just didn’t feel right to me on this tour.

I remember feeling the same way about Blaine Larson on a tour with Gretchen Wilson and Van Zant many moons ago. Gretchen Wilson, party! Van Zant, party! Blaine Larson, sad songs about being lonely? It makes me wonder how it’s decided who will be touring together. Let’s throw everyone in a hat and see what we get?? I’m glad Hunt is tapping in Russell Dickerson later in the year when his new tour starts.

Lily Rose

I wasn’t familiar with Lily Rose at all before seeing her at the first show in Raleigh. I don’t have a TikTok account [she is HUGE on TikTok I hear] but some of Rose’s MEGA fans were sitting right behind me, singing along to every word. I made friends with them and they told me which songs to download, which I did promptly. I was then the MEGA fan singing along for the show in Greensboro. ๐Ÿ˜‰ A huge highlight was when Lily Rose came back out on the stage with Sam Hunt and they sang “Wishful Drinking.” The two singers sounded fantastic together! If you haven’t heard of Lily Rose, I recommend you download “Villain” and “I Don’t Smoke” right now. You can thank me later.
