On The Set Of Ben Affleck’s “Live By Night”

November 1, 2015 by Dawn McAlexander

On The Set Of Ben Affleck's "Live By Night," Filming In Brunswick, Ga

While on a recent press trip in the Golden Isles, I got to stop by the set of Ben Affleck’s upcoming “Live By Night.” Set in prohibition era Ybor City, Florida, this movie is an adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel by the same name. Affleck will be portraying a mobster in this film that is currently shooting in Brunswick, Ga. Also starring in Live By Night are Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning and Sienna Miller.

It was really interesting to be standing on a set in production knowing that, in just a few days, the area would be the scene of a Hollywood movie. There was a police officer guarding the area that was blocked off by police tape. She explained to us that the buildings were actually covered by props to ready them for the film. Since the changes are not up to our current building codes, after filming ends, the film crew will then transform the area back to the way it was before filming began – just like nothing ever happened.

I am excited to see their handiwork on the big screen. I really could not look at the buildings and tell that they were “fake” so to speak. It felt like I had stepped back in time to prohibition era Ybor City, Fl. It was really amazing to see and I think that you will be impressed with the scenery when the movie finally hits the big screen.

Live By Night will be directed and produced by Affleck. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson will also serve as producers on this film. I really enjoyed his work in Argo {his last directing gig}, so I am excited to see what he will do with this movie. I have read conflicting reports on the release date of this movie as it has been pushed back due to Affleck’s work on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but expect to see this movie released in either late 2016 or early 2017.
