Do you remember the old days when you would wake up on Saturday morning, turn on the TV and watch classic cartoons? There was no better way to start the weekend than crawling up on the couch in your PJs while you ate your bowl of cereal and kept the volume turned down so your parents could sleep in late. Today’s generation of kids don’t have that same fun experience. They can turn on Cartoon Network, Disney or Nick Jr and watch their favorite cartoons any time of day. But that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to experience the classic cartoons of our generation.

Looney Tunes
Classic Looney Tunes is the all time favorite of many people. There may have been remakes, episodes with new characters and voices but there is still nothing more iconic than the original Bugs Bunny, Road Runner and Tweety Bird episodes. Some people have argued that Looney Tunes was violent and politically incorrect, but when it comes to classic animated fun, Looney Tunes is still at the top of the list.
Woody Woodpecker
Who doesn’t recognize the classic sound of Woody Woodpecker laughing at his opponents and getting into trouble? That red headed woodpecker is still a knock out with all generations.
Smurfs
The movies just don’t compare to the old school episodes of the Smurfs. Papa Smurf was the ultimate community leader who could solve any problem and keep everyone safe. Smurfette was strong and beautiful. Brainy Smurf could invent amazing contraptions and of course Gargamel was the ultimate ‘bad guy’.
Scooby Doo
The classic Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine were many kids’ first introduction to monsters. But this was not the kind of scary monsters of your nightmares. Each monster on the classic Scooby Doo cartoons turned out to be a real person pulling a trick. Never fear: the good guys always win in every episode.
Flintstones
These stone age families were often politically incorrect and got into hysterical scrapes but you can’t make a list of classic cartoons without mentioning Fred and Barney. They may be stone age, but they sure did have some amazing technology!

Captain Caveman – that is one that I am having trouble recalling. I will have to look it up.
In not so classic cartoons – I also really enjoyed Johnny Bravo and Courage The Cowardly Dog. 🙂

I LOVED the Flintstones and I love seeing my girls sometimes watching them. I also loved the Jetsons.
These are all great classic cartoons, but the Smurfs is the best. I have loved the Smurfs since I had a Smurf birthday party when I turned 10.
A Smurf birthday party sounds really fun! Memorable birthday parties that my daughter had were Barney, Powerpuff Girls and Blues Clues. I wonder if she will look back on those later in life and still love those cartoons/shows?
The Flintstones were always one of my favorites. Those are all classics.
I used to love the Smurfs and Scooby Doo. I think Scooby Doo was my favorite.
I would have to stick with Scooby Doo. Although the plot is all the same, there is something funny about that dog.
I loved the smurfs. That’s one that hasn’t really made a comeback…yet.
The Smurfs are one of my favorite old school cartoons. I used to read their comic books and collect their figures when I was a kid.
These are all classic and I loved them when I was a kids. So glad that my kids also watch these cartoons.
Loony tunes and flinstons was my favorite and I got Bella into watching it too now thanks to youtube yay
It’s awesome that we can watch all of these shows again on Youtube! My daughter and I occasionally watch “Saved By The Bell” on Netflix. That was another Saturday staple for me.
I liked Pound Puppies and ace Cadettes. I still remember of the lines from the different episodes

Gosh I don’t know what my favorite cartoon would be. I love all of the ones you mentioned but I sure did love watching all of the Peanuts specials. Even as an adult, I can sit and watch those.
My favorite cartoons are Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera cartoons and the Simpsons. I had lots of fun watching those shows.
I loved the Flintstones. I still love it and I love it even more as an adult I thinkg.

Flintstones are for sure my favorite. As a kid they were too, and I just wish cartoons like all above were still on today. Not many great ones now.
We rented a new Looney Tunes movie that had Johnny Quest too. The kids LOVED it. I wish they would bring Looney Tunes back.

Oh how I miss all of these cartoons. Scooby was my sister’s favorite. And everytime I see something with Scooby on it, it makes me smile and remember her.
Hi there Dawn, I was about to jump in and say that nothing beats Smurfs in that list but just then you dropped Scooby Doo to kill it. It reminds me of my younger years. I used to love Tom and Jerry as a kid but I used to get upset because Tom never ever won. Jerry was a little jerk and I really wanted Tom to get him one day.
