When my daughter was little, we watched movies all the time. We have even watched a few classic movies from my youth. Some favorite movies from my youth include Anne of Green Gables and Annie. As a matter of fact, I have even read most of the “Anne” series. And who could forget Wizard of Oz? I know that everyone has their favorite classic movies, so let’s talk about a few here and hopefully you will add some of yours to the comments.

One Of My Favorite Classic Movies: Annie

I think that “Annie” might be my personal favorite of the classic movies on this list. When I was a child, I always loved Annie. You just can’t help but love that bubbly personality. I also really enjoyed Mrs. Hannigan. Even though she wasn’t the best person to be in charge of the orphans, she was still really fun to watch and played the role perfectly.

I think that Annie is also really educational. From making us think about socioeconomic and class divides of that era, without us even realizing it and showing us how unconditional acceptance of others can bring you more joy than you realized, I think that this is a great to introduce to your young girls, tweens especially, if they haven’t already seen it.

    I love so many of those movies! But I was surprised by how many I haven’t seen. And there were a few I haven’t even heard of! Looks like I’ll be visiting Amazon . 🙂

    These are great! Such a good list of movies, my girls would really like to see these, they’ve been into older classic movies and shows lately.

    Well Mary Poppins is a classic in our home, as well as the original Parent Trap, but most off, anything the Olsen Twins did when they were young girls still get played a lot here!

    OH!!! I love all these movies and yes, I did watch them all with my daughter when she was young. . . we also got many of the soundtracks to listen to in the car. I am so inspired to do some throw back – Mommy daughter movie nights with her.

      My daughter is 17 and she is all about the 80s movies. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times she has seen “The Breakfast Club.” We just watched “Say Anything” together the other day. I love me some John Cusack. 🙂

    I can’t wait till my girls are old enough for movies like this. I remember watching Singing in the Rain when I was about 9 or so and just loving it.

    One of my favorite movies is the original Parent Trap. When my youngest was 4 she watched it with me and she liked it too, she sat through the whole thing. Then she was shocked to find out that Sharon/Susan was the same age as my mother.

      Hahaha! I bet that was quite a shock to your little one. I remember seeing Hayley Mills on Saved By The Bell, too.

      The newer one was actually good, too, in my opinion.

    My daughter has different taste in movies. I would prefer to watch comedies etc and she loves to watch scary movies. For her, the scarier the better.

    I have seen about half of them…. I remember seeing them as a kid also. A lot of them I saw at the drive in theater as a kid…. great memories 🙂
