There are several cases of celebrity deaths which could be considered mysterious. Many people have their own conspiracy theories about certain celebrities and the way that they passed on, but some raise more red flags than others. Top 10 Mysterious Celebrity Deaths: #10 Princess Diana

We start our mysterious celebrity deaths list with the well-known Princess of Wales, Diana Spencer. She was the first wife of Prince Charles, the heir to the thrown of England, and she became very popular for her humanitarian efforts both during and after her marriage to Prince Charles. She was also the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry. On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, were killed in a car accident in the Pont de L’Alma tunnel after a high speed chase from paparazzi. Conspiracy theorists believe that the Royal Family actually had her death staged in order to prevent her from marrying Fayed, who was a Muslim billionaire. Although no official record of any type exists to point to such a claim, a simple internet search will reveal hundreds of theories as to what actually happened on that night.

Top 10 Mysterious Celebrity Deaths: #9 Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith became famous as a pinup in Playboy magazine. Her marriage to 89-year-old tycoon J. Howard Marshall when she was just 26 turned a lot of heads. There was a lengthy legal battle over her inheritance of Marshall’s money when he passed away, one that was still going on at the time of her death. Smith also starred in her own reality show, “The Anna Nicole Show”, and stayed in the limelight and in tabloids for years.

After giving birth to her daughter, Dannielynn, whose paternity was hotly protested and was another legal battle that played out in the news, Smith married her attorney, Howard K. Stern, and lost her son, Daniel, to a drug overdose. A few months after Daniel’s death, Smith herself was found dead inside a Hard Rock Hotel in the Bahamas. Her death was eerily similar to her son’s, which lead people to believe that perhaps neither death was an accident. No police investigation was ever done regarding their deaths, but it does make people go “hmmm…”

Jim Morrison was an American songwriter and poet best known as the lead singer for the iconic rock band The Doors. He was extremely talented, however he was constantly in trouble with the law for his outlandish behavior, which usually stemmed from his use of illegal drugs or alcohol.
On July 3, 1971, Morrison was found dead in the bathtub of a Paris apartment by his long-time companion and lover, Pamela Courson. According to Wikipedia, Morrison’s death was ruled an accidental overdose of heroin, which Morrison had inhaled through his nose, believing it to be cocaine. However, by French law, since there was no evidence of foul play, no autopsy was performed. Therefore, the true cause of Morrison’s death is not known. Conspiracy theorists, and Morrison fans, believe that he actually faked his own death to escape the public eye. One eyewitness to Morrison’s funeral described it as “pitiful”, with people muttering a few words then leaving quickly, lending credence to the theory because they knew the funeral was a hoax. There is no known evidence, however, to support that Morrison is still alive.

JonBenet Ramsey was a six-year-old beauty pageant queen with a lot of life ahead of her. On Christmas Day, 1996, JonBenet’s parents called police in their hometown of Boulder, Colorado, and reported her missing. Eight hours after the phone call, her body was discovered in the basement of the family’s home. Almost immediately, her parents were suspected in her death. DNA evidence partially cleared them in 2003. Recently released court documents state that in 1999 a grand jury voted to indict both parents on charges of child abuse that lead to JonBenet’s death, but the District Attorney was a personal friend of the Ramseys and would not sign the indictment. The case is still under investigation, and there are no current suspects.

Critics of the investigation claim that the police bungled the whole case by not roping off the crime scene nor collecting forensic evidence either before or after JonBenet’s body was discovered, which means that, unfortunately, this is one of the many celebrity deaths case that may never be solved.

Top 10 Mysterious Celebrity Deaths: #6 The Notorious B.I.G.

The Notorious B.I.G., or Biggie Smalls as he was also known, was a successful east coast rapper who enjoyed his biggest success after his untimely death. Biggie left a party in Los Angeles on the night of March 9, 1997. While stopped at a light, a black Chevrolet Impala pulled up along side Biggie’s SUV and the driver opened fire on Biggie’s vehicle. Biggie was struck four times, but it was one bullet in particular that was fatal. Biggie Smalls was pronounced dead early the next morning in a Los Angeles hospital. The driver of the Impala that fired upon Biggie was never captured. He was described as an African American male wearing a blue suit and bow tie. The Notorious B.I.G. had been a vital part of the growing east coast/west coast rapper’s feud, with each side claiming to have the best rappers. It has been speculated that his death was linked to this feud, however, there is a conspiracy theory that says that Marion “Suge” Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, conspired to have both Biggie and Tupac Shakur killed in similar fashion to make it look as though it was a part of the east coast/west coast rapper feud. To this day, both of these celebrity deaths have remained unsolved.

Natalie Wood was quite popular at the time of her death on November 29, 1981. According to Wikipedia, Wood, the star of such films as “West Side Story”, and “Rebel Without A Cause“, drowned on a boating trip with her husband, actor Robert Wagner and their friend, actor Christopher Walken. Wagner claimed that Wood was not on the boat when he went to bed. Her body was recovered the next morning less than a mile from the boat. The official cause of death was drowning and hypothermia, however the investigation was reopened in 2011 when the boat’s captain, Dennis Davern, admitted that he had lied during the initial investigation and that Wood and Wagner had had a fight on the boat that lead to her death. After a three month investigation, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office changed Wood’s death certificate to say that her death was caused by “drowning and other undetermined factors.” The Los Angeles Police Department has been instructed not to discuss the case.

Actor George Reeves was best known for his role on the television series “Adventures of Superman”, in which he played the Man of Steel himself. On the night of June 16, 1959, Reeves supposedly committed suicide in an upstairs bedroom of his home via a gunshot wound to the head. However, many people over the years, both close friends and casual acquaintances, have speculated that they do not believe Reeves was on the verge of suicide. His fiancee, Leonore Lemmon, claimed that Reeves had been upset since “Adventures of Superman” ended, claiming that Reeves could not get quality roles anymore. Lemmon told police that she was downstairs with the guests when Reeves died, but a statement from Fred Crane, a friend of Reeves’s, contends that Lemmon was in the area of the bedroom where Reeves died when he was shot. Reeves’s death was officially ruled a suicide, but the true cause of his death may never be known with certainty.

Top Mysterious Celebrity Deaths: #3 Bob Crane

Bob Crane is most famous for his role of Colonel Robert Hogan on the CBS comedy “Hogan’s Heroes”, which ran for six seasons and garnered Crane two Emmy nominations. In June of 1978 Crane’s body was discovered bludgeoned to death inside his apartment in Scottsdale, Arizona. The instrument that was used to murder Crane was never recovered, and the assailant was never found. It was believed that the instrument of death was a camera tripod, and a prime suspect was Crane’s friend, John Henry Carpenter. Several blood smears that matched Crane’ s blood type were found inside Carpenter’s car, however, the evidence was too inconclusive to file charges. The case was reopened in 1990, and Carpenter was charged with murder. The case was circumstantial against him, however, and he was found not guilty. Crane’s murder remains unsolved today.

Rapper Tupac Shakur began his career as an MC for the band Digital Underground. He would go on to become one of the most successful artists of all time, and without a doubt one of the best rappers in history. He scored two Billboard Hot 100 number one singles with “How Do U Want It” and “California Love”, along with several other hits, such as “Dear Mama.” On the night of September 7, 1997, Tupac and his entourage were en route to a club along the Las Vegas strip when they stopped at a red light. A car pulled up beside Tupac’s sedan, while Tupac was standing up through the sunroof. They fired several shots, striking Tupac in the chest and pelvic region as well as in the hand. Tupac died six days later at a Las Vegas hospital as a result of the wounds. The drivers of the vehicle that shot him sped away from the scene and were never captured. It is believed that Orlando Anderson, member of a gang known as the Southside Crips, whom Shakur had assaulted earlier that evening, was responsible for Shakur’s death. Anderson supposedly shot Shakur to retaliate for the beating he received. Even with this motive, no arrest has ever been made in the shooting.

Perhaps there are no other celebrity deaths that have attracted as much attention as that of Marilyn Monroe. The 36-year-old actress was one of the biggest celebrities of all time. Her roles in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “The Seven Year Itch” have become the stuff of Hollywood lore. On August 5, 1962, Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood, California home. The official cause of death was ruled as an overdose on barbiturates, perhaps from an attempted suicide. However, speculation has run rampant since her death about a possible conspiracy involving then President John F. Kennedy and his brother, Robert Kennedy. It had long been speculated that President Kennedy and Monroe had carried on a secret affair. John F. Kennedy was the last person to speak to Monroe on the night of her death via telephone. Conspiracy theorists believe that the positioning of Monroe’s body was not consistent with a suicide attempt, and that Marilyn’s ties to the Mafia, through her friend, Frank Sinatra, were a threat to the Kennedys and their political careers. Supposedly, Monroe was romantically involved with a known mobster. Does this mean that the Kennedys conspired to have Monroe killed? Who really knows?
