Catching Up With Kasey Tyndall At Carolina Country Music Fest #CCMF2018

Catching Up With Kasey Tyndall At Carolina Country Music Fest #CCMF2018

Last week I attended the 4th annual Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach, SC. Let me tell you, it was hot. So hanging out on an air conditioned RV and chatting with North Carolina native, Kasey Tyndall, was a welcome reprieve. She was fresh off of Parmalee’s “Hotdamalama” tour as well as a performance in Nashville for CMAFest. I actually caught a show in the “Hotdamalama” tour but Kasey wasn’t on that particular bill so I was glad to finally get to meet her at Carolina Country Music Fest. Ronda and I got to get out of the Myrtle Beach heat and chill with Kasey on an air conditioned tour bus. Life is good. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Eat Play Rock: How many dates did you do on Parmalee’s “Hotdamalama” Tour?

Kasey Tyndall: I did like 15. They are like my brothers.

Eat Play Rock: So where in North Carolina are you from?

Kasey Tyndall: I’m from Greenville, North Carolina, right near where Parmalee is from.

Eat Play Rock: So did you all know each other before?

Kasey Tyndall: No. We met up in Nashville. It’s like a small town. We had the same manager so it just kind of worked out.

Eat Play Rock: I read that you are really into classic rock. Who are some of your faves?

Kasey Tyndall: Joan Jett. I saw her for the first time last year.

Eat Play Rock: Yes! I saw her once, years ago, with Def Leppard.

Kasey Tyndall: Oh my God!

Eat Play Rock: Yeah, it was so good.

Kasey Tyndall: And Heart. They sound the exact same.

Eat Play Rock: I haven’t seen Heart but I have heard that she can kill it, live, with those notes. Can we expect you to do any covers in your shows?

Kasey Tyndall: We cover Def Leppard, Big and Rich, Gretchen Wilson. We do a lot.

Eat Play Rock: What do you do by Def Leppard?

Kasey Tyndall: “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”

Eat Play Rock: Oh yes! That’s good! So I’ve heard that you like to perform in bars. What makes you prefer a rowdier crowd?

Kasey Tyndall: I feel like my music fits in better there and that I am allowed to dance on the bar and sing at the same time. I like that experience.

Eat Play Rock: That’s cool. Do you ever worry about falling off the bar?

Kasey Tyndall: Yes. In a couple clubs I totally do, but after a couple drinks I forget about how scared I am.

Eat Play Rock: I like your red streak you got going on [Kasey had red streaks in her hair].

Kasey Tyndall: Thank you! I got red, I got blonde somewhere.

Eat Play Rock: Do you care if I ask how old you are? You look very young.

Kasey Tyndall: I’m 22.

Eat Play Rock: And how long have you been touring?

Kasey Tyndall: This will be my 3rd year on the road.

Eat Play Rock: What made you decide to start touring and singing and this career?

Kasey Tyndall: I won a contest to sing with Keith Urban 4 years ago and it’s just kind of snowballed since then.

Eat Play Rock: How was the experience? Where you terrified?

Kasey Tyndall: Yes. I was very terrified. It was like an out of body experience.

Eat Play Rock: What did you sing with him?

Kasey Tyndall: “We Were Us.” The Miranda Lambert duet.
