We are sad to hear to the passing of Gregg Allman. Gregg Allman passed from complications from Liver Cancer Sunday, May 28th. He passed away at home surrounded by his family and loved ones in Macon, Ga. He had been working on a new solo album entitled, “Southern Blood”. He was 69 years old.

In Memory Of Gregg Allman

When I was 16 years old, I went into a little music store and bought my first Allman Brothers Band CD. It was the Decade of Hits album. I wore that CD out listening to it over the last 15 years. So, I am a fan and have been since I heard them for the first time.

I was unaware that Gregg had passed. I had been busy preparing for the Memorial Day weekend and I didn’t hear the announcement. As we remember the life of a rock & roll icon, we cannot help but be thankful that we were there in that time and place. The nights that were spent hanging out with friends where the Allmans’ “Whipping Post” played in the background. The days driving down the highway tapping our fingers to the sound of the song “Southbound”. The lovers who claimed that the beautiful instrumental “Jessica” was “their song”.

He was brilliant. Not only as a songwriter and performer but he bought people together. Droves of fans would come to hear him play when they performed to sold out stadiums and amphitheaters making the Allman Brothers Band one of the most influential acts of their time. He could relate to us: love, happiness, sadness, loss and brotherhood. He loved us and we loved him.

Thank you Gregg for the influence, the good times and the memories.

This is so sad. I have not heard of Gregg Allman, but it always kind of strikes a chord when an artist dies. He will be missed. 🙁

I didnt ever really listen to the Allman Brothers so I am not familiar with him but they are ROCKING the guitars in that Jessica video. That would be great if they could release some of the songs he was working on.

We have lost a lot of great recently like Leon Russell, J. Geils and now Gregg Allman. I grew up listen to classic rock, and I will never forget the first time I heard Whipping Post or Midnight Rider. They were life changing and had so much soul. While it is sad to see his passing, his legacy lives on and now he can join Duane.

I’m sure I’ve heard his music, but just can’t place it right now. Still, it always breaks my heart when a remarkable musician passes. The impact they can make on people can truly be life-changing. Music has been such a significant part of my life, and I’m so grateful to those who spend their lives spreading their talents and passions with the world. May his family find peace and comfort in this difficult time.
