Stoked for the new Jem and the Holograms movie! #JemTheMovie

I just heard the other day that they are doing a movie version of Jem and the Holograms. If you are unaware of who Jem and the Holograms are, it’s a cartoon and doll collection that was popular in the late 80s. I remember that I was pretty much obsessed with Jem at like 8 or 9 years old and I had several of the dolls, the Rockin’ Roadster and her speaker {which opened into a closet}.

I have to admit that I am shocked they are remaking this series. It was hugely popular, but not for very long. And when I talk to people about their favorite childhood shows, Jem is rarely one that is mentioned. I thought it was just my thing. Apparently I was wrong, and I am pleasantly surprised by that. I loved loved loved Jem and I am very excited to see the Jem and the Holograms movie when it comes out. 🙂

So, I also heard that Jem and the Holograms is on Netflix, so last night I did a search and sure enough it is! So, I asked my daughter nicely forced her to watch a couple episodes with me. She started out making fun of it. You know how these teens are. I then reminded her that one of her faves was Barney and not to judge. She didn’t have much else to say after that. 😉

I was looking around Youtube and found this awesome video that some Jem fans did!

Jem And The Holograms Is Cast!

From reading on the internet I have learned that the Jem and the Holograms movie is already cast. I don’t think I know anyone they chose except for Aubrey Peeples. She plays Layla on Nashville
, a show that I watch every week. She will be playing Jem, so I am excited to see how she does.

Now, if they would finally come out with a Wonder Woman movie, my life would be complete. 🙂

    I hope the Jem and the Holograms movie is successful. Some things can never live up to the original, but I have hope!

      My husband really loved Tom and Jerry. I would love to see if they could make that into a live action movie.

      When I was watching the episodes the other night, I was singing right along. I still knew the words to the theme, as well as “Like A Dream” and one of the other songs!

    A couple of years ago my 11 year old niece dressed as Jem for Halloween. She loves the cartoon. She will be so excited about the movie. Jem and the Holograms is an oldie but goodie for sure.

      That is so cool! I am trying to convince my daughter to dress up like Jem for this Halloween. For some reason she thinks that no one will know who she is.

    I can’t think of any cartoons we used to watch when we were kids because most of the time we were stuck studying and reviewing our lessons even when we go back home from school. Nope, I am not familiar with Jem and the Holograms. 😐

    I remember thinking Jem was so cool! I think the new movie will fit right in with all of the modern girl stuff I’m seeing like Bratz and monster high.

      I was looking through the dolls on ebay and Amazon and I think I had Glitter and Gold Jem and the one that came in the pink dress. 🙂

    I do not remember this. In the 80’s I would have been in high school. I’m the youngest in the family so that is probably why I don’t remember them. I’ll bet my little cousins are going to love this! I’ll keep an eye and an ear out for them! 🙂

    I outgrew this one, but I do know how stoked you are … could be similar to how excited I was when I watched last installment of Hunger Games and now I couldn’t wait for the next one and the one after that 🙂

    I never watched this and only heard it first time from a makeup tutorial on how to look and rock like Jem on youtube and here is my second time to hear about it and so I am deciding to look for it somewhere.

    I’m stoked about this movie because I DIDN’T ever see their cartoons as a kid. As a Barbie collector, I always heard how cool Jem & The Holograms were, so I’d love to find out for myself.

    Unfortunately they were popular just before my son was born. So I never got to watch them as he wasn’t really interested. But m’dear if you’re stoked then I say go with it! Not many of our childhood heroes come back for another round! I was you back in the day of Felix the Cat!
