Fishing Songs ~

Fishing pier, Ocean Grove, N. J. fishing songs and piers

Summertime and fishing. They just go together, don’t they? I still remember the days of fishing on the bank at my grandmother’s pond as a child. Her cat would always be my best friend for a while, especially when I awarded her a catch. Those were the days. Well, any good fishing trip just can’t be great until you have the proper music to listen to. So, before you gather up your poles and go hunting for night crawlers, let’s get the mood right with a roundup of awesome fishing songs and some cool songs that just have fishy titles.

Fishing Songs: The Coolest We Could Find

I’m Gonna Miss Her by Brad Paisley – We all know the story. Boy meets girl. Girls tell boy to choose between her and fishing. Bye bye girl. Nothing gets between a boy and his pole. Until he comes crawling back, that is.

Fishing In The Dark by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band – “You and me go fishing in the dark…” Who hasn’t heard that song? No matter how long ago it was made, I still get it stuck in my head on occasion. It is just so catchy. And it always puts a smile on my face. ๐Ÿ™‚

Gone Fishin’ by Chairmen Of The Board – I love beach music. It always reminds me of vacation when I listen to it. Really, even if the song isn’t about fishing, it still reminds me of fishing and other beach related adventures. And reminds me how bad I need a vacation.

Barracuda by Heart – Yes, this song isn’t about fishing, but it does have a fish for a title. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oh, and Heart majorly rocks, so they get a pass.

A Country Boy Can Survive by Hank Williams Jr. – “I can catch catfish from dusk ’til dawn…” I bet he could, too. I have spent a few nights out on the boat years ago fishing all night. It can be great fun. Especially when the sky is nice and clear.

Boondocks by Little Big Town – “You get a line and I’ll get a pole…” Who wouldn’t want to go fishing with Little Big Town? Especially if they brought the Pontoon, too. I just hope they don’t bring the Tornado. Gotta watch out for that brunette one. {Haha. I got jokes}. ๐Ÿ˜›

A Bad Day Of Fishing by Billy Currington – He knows what he is talking about. A bad day of fishing is oftentimes better than a good day of anything else – like shoveling snow, for example. Bleh!

Athough the “Art Schaerer Combo” from Cleveland is not a band you will find on any radio station except our own homegrown home recording radio station on our website, we have a very cool song not only about fishing, but a memoriam of my best fishing buddy and crazy cousin for 55 years. In the summer of 77 we had a a real hot rod race down to our favorite Appalachian fishing lake in southeast Ohio. We set up a tent and played “Let it Bleed” on an 8 track in my buddy’s 65 ford Galaxie.. It is called “Hot Rod Joey” and patterned off the classic Commander Cody tune “Hot Rod Lincoln.” The video only contains lyrics but has been reviewed (not by this author) as an exceptionally constructed piece of organic poetry from a real life event…It features a Cleveland Phenom on guitar, Phil Barker… another version with photos is in the works..enjoy and check out our “Your Music” page…It is for anyone wishing to post their home recordings, etc….Surprisingly is gets the most hits on our sites after the record crate shopping page…http://youtu.be/4PTHwzUGEQs
