Space Dogs: Adventure To The Moon will be opening in select cities on August 26 which just happens to be National Dog Day. This animated film for the family will star Alicia Silverstone and Ashlee Simpson. Released by Epic and directed by veteran Disney animator Mike Disa, this film is a sequel to 2010’s Space Dogs 3D.

Space Dogs: Adventure In Space was inspired by the first dogs in outer space, and the film encourages children to explore their curiosity in science and technology. This film’s predecessor, Space Dogs 3D, ended up grossing over $30 million worldwide.

Space Dogs: Adventure To The Moon is inspired by, Belka {Alicia Silverstone} and Strelka {Ashlee Simpson}, the first dogs in space. Rated G, this film has the Dove Family Approval Seal, thus making it appropriate for families and children of all ages.

Teenage astronaut, Pushok (Samuel Witwer) stows away in a US rocket ship in search of his missing astronaut father. He is then reunited with his mom and encounters friends along the way like a macho monkey and a baby alien. They then band together in search of Pushok’s father.

Space Dogs: Adventure To The Moon is the sequel to Space Dogs 3D, which premiered in Russia in March 2010. Following its success there, the film was then released in over 150 countries around the world.

Space Dogs: Adventure To The Moon opens on National Dog Day, August 26.
