Jacob Vaughan On A Full Concert Schedule At 18, Early College And Working Through Writer’s Block

Jacob Vaughan On A Full Concert Schedule At 18, Early College And Working Through Writer's Block

A few weeks ago, I was invited to see Jacob Vaughan play at World of Beer in Greensboro. I was not aware of him before his dad, Jamie, hit me up on Facebook messenger and invited me to see him perform live. But, as you guys know, I love seeing both local acts and music that I was not aware of previously. This tactic has introduced me to some great new to me acts in the past few months, specifically Tim Elliott and Cory Luetjen. It turns out that Jacob and Tim also know each other, so it’s a small, musical world after all. [Read more…]

Walker Hayes Interview: Colt Ford & The Real Inspiration Behind “You Broke Up With Me”

Walker Hayes Interview: Colt Ford & The Real Inspiration Behind "You Broke Up With Me"

A few years ago, Nashville broke up with Walker Hayes. However, just like many an ex, Nashville realized the error of their ways and came crawling back. I got to chat with the “You Broke Up With Me” singer recently and, I gotta say, this super talented musician and father of 6 [soon to be 7] has a fabulous story to share about perseverance and never giving up on your dreams. Oh, and he has the baddest song about letting your ex know what’s up. 😉

Parmalee’s Matt Thomas Talks RV Living, Working With Nikki Sixx & Hotdamalama

parmalee

When I interview a group or artist, I always listen to all the music that I can find by them to really familiarize myself or re-familiarize myself with their music before doing the actual interview. And I have to admit it. I have a brand new favorite song, and that song is “Think You Oughta Know That,” by Parmalee. I just can’t stop listening to that song. I get to see Parmalee for the first time live tomorrow night and here’s hoping they do that song. *Fingers crossed* I got the chance to talk to Matt Thomas, the lead singer of Parmalee yesterday. Surviving a tragic, violent incident, living in an RV and scraping by on the money they earned from odd jobs, Parmalee managed to make it in Nashville and score several Top 10 hits. Here’s a little piece of their remarkable story.

Tim Elliott Setlist: Johnny & June’s In Winston Salem, NC

Tim Elliott Setlist: Johnny & June's In Winston Salem, NC

A couple of days before Christmas, Wes, Michelle and I went to check out a Tim Elliott concert. None of us had previously seen his show so we were excited to find out what was in store. I have been to literally hundreds of concerts, but for 2018, I want to go to as many concerts as I can from acts that I have missed out on in the past. I also want to learn about lots of music that is either new to me and that I have somehow missed out on. I want to expand my music repertoire, so to speak. In 2017, I saw the following acts for the first time: Bon Jovi, Suzy Bogguss, Old Crow Medicine Show, Marshall Tucker Band and Tim Elliott. That’s a nice mix, I think. 🙂 So, for all you newbies, check out my Tim Elliott setlist from the recent Johnny and June’s show to get an idea of what you might expect if you go see him live this year. Be sure to also check out my interview with Tim Elliott here.
