Parmalee’s Matt Thomas Talks RV Living, Working With Nikki Sixx & Hotdamalama

parmalee

When I interview a group or artist, I always listen to all the music that I can find by them to really familiarize myself or re-familiarize myself with their music before doing the actual interview. And I have to admit it. I have a brand new favorite song, and that song is “Think You Oughta Know That,” by Parmalee. I just can’t stop listening to that song. I get to see Parmalee for the first time live tomorrow night and here’s hoping they do that song. *Fingers crossed* I got the chance to talk to Matt Thomas, the lead singer of Parmalee yesterday. Surviving a tragic, violent incident, living in an RV and scraping by on the money they earned from odd jobs, Parmalee managed to make it in Nashville and score several Top 10 hits. Here’s a little piece of their remarkable story.

Tim Elliott Setlist: Johnny & June’s In Winston Salem, NC

Tim Elliott Setlist: Johnny & June's In Winston Salem, NC

A couple of days before Christmas, Wes, Michelle and I went to check out a Tim Elliott concert. None of us had previously seen his show so we were excited to find out what was in store. I have been to literally hundreds of concerts, but for 2018, I want to go to as many concerts as I can from acts that I have missed out on in the past. I also want to learn about lots of music that is either new to me and that I have somehow missed out on. I want to expand my music repertoire, so to speak. In 2017, I saw the following acts for the first time: Bon Jovi, Suzy Bogguss, Old Crow Medicine Show, Marshall Tucker Band and Tim Elliott. That’s a nice mix, I think. :) So, for all you newbies, check out my Tim Elliott setlist from the recent Johnny and June’s show to get an idea of what you might expect if you go see him live this year. Be sure to also check out my interview with Tim Elliott here.

Rockie Lynne On Supporting The Troops & Offering Aid To Gold Star Families

Rockie Lynne On Supporting The Troops & Aid To Gold Star Families

I remember playing “Lipstick” and “Do We Still” by Rockie Lynne when I worked in radio. I loved both of those songs and was super excited to get to see him in concert back in the day with Carrie Underwood. Rockie Lynne is so much more than a talented musician though. He does so much for the troops and those less fortunate that I really think it was an honor to get to talk to him and write this piece on him today. Check out this Rockie Lynne interview and let me know what you think about this super cool North Carolina native.

2018 Merlefest Initial Lineup & Midnight Jam Announced #Merlefest

2018 Merlefest Initial Lineup & Midnight Jam Announced #Merlefest

A few years ago {maybe 10 or so) I went to Merlefest for the first time. So. Much. Music. I have to say, it was pretty amazing. There was entertainment and vendors everywhere. And I got to see THE Emmylou Harris. Amazing, people. There were so many types of music there that I really think most people could find something that they not only liked, but loved. And I have to say, the 2018 Merlefest Initial Lineup is looking pretty sweet. Check it out below.

Earlier today, I got to chat with Critter Fuqua from Old Crow Medicine Show. As everyone else in the free world, I am familiar with, and a fan of, “Wagon Wheel” from the Grammy winning group, but I have just started learning about their other music. Um, it rocks, people – especially the songs, “Shit Creek” {my personal fave}, “Brushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer” and “Sweet Amarillo,” all off their album, “Remedy.” It’s interesting to learn that these Grand Ole Opry members made their way around North America in the early days on money they earned while busking. Not sure what that is? Read on to find out.
