The Legend of Tarzan Starring Alexander Skarsgard} Movie Review #TheLegendOfTarzan

If you are headed out to the theater and are looking for a movie to watch, well, I have already been there and previewed the movies for you. So, hopefully this will help you make a decision as to what kind of movie you want to see. But, then again, you may decide on what kind of movie you don’t want to see. Either way, here’s my review of the new movie The Legend of Tarzan.

The Legend Of Tarzan Movie Review

The Legend of Tarzan stars Alexander Skarsgård as John Clayton, the Earl of Gresytoke, aka Tarzan, who was rescued from the African Congo after being raised by apes. His unfortunate upbringing has left him with an unusual connection with the animals. He is now back in civilization and married to Jane (Margot Robbie), the lady who rescued him from the Congo. Now, he is invited back to the Congo on what is supposed to be a diplomatic mission with American gunfighter George Washington Williams (Samuel L. Jackson), however what he discovers along the way is that this mission isn’t exactly diplomatic.

Leopold, the King of Belgium, who has laid claim to the Congo, has hired Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz) to help find elusive diamonds in the Congo that will finance the building of his army. Rom finds the diamonds but, in order to procure them, he must bring Tarzan back to the Congo and lure him to his death. Rom has no problem doing so, any way he can.

My Thoughts

I would see this movie again. It was action-packed yet dramatic at the same time. Although the majority of the cast is unfamiliar aside from some of the main cast {this movie also stars Djimon Hounsou}, they do a good job in bringing The Legend of Tarzan to life. Waltz’s performance as the smug yet arrogant Rom led me to hate him as the film progressed. Isn’t that what the actor portraying the villain is supposed to do?

I think the best thing about the film was the cinematography. With wide, sweeping views of the African plains and creepy views of the dense jungle, you really felt you were in the heart of Africa for the majority of the film. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give the entire film a solid 4 stars.

So, there you have it, my review of The Legend of Tarzan. I hope this helps you to decide whether or not to go see it. In my opinion, you could do much worse. It is worth the money to see this film.

About Jay Crawford

Jay is a die hard sports fan {football and college basketball being his favorites}. His favorite teams are the Carolina Panthers and Tarheels and, of course, his alma mater, the Appalachian Mountaineers. He spends his free time listening to music, especially KISS, Def Leppard, the Eagles and a lot of the newer country music, and watching comic book and action movies. The more special effects - the better.
